Through my experience on the Kokoda Track, I have taken away much more than just a great sense of accomplishment. Through the vigorous nature of the expedition I have learnt a great deal about myself, my limits and my values. I discovered the power of the mind, which pushed me harder and further than I thought I could ever go, I found I have a greater appreciation for the things I once took for granted, like a soft pillow or a hot shower.
I understand the values of strength, endurance, mateship and sacrifice and under the guidance of ‘the boys’ I have learnt the true meaning of compassion. Walking ‘the track’, was a life changing experience and the memories I have will stay in my heart forever.
