A big thank you to everyone who participated in the 'Honour Our Heroes' Relay Walk held on Sunday 28th May 2017 at Parramatta Park!
A big thank you to Member Clubs, RSL Sub-Branches, Community and Corporate Partners who supported and participated in the 2nd Annual "Honour Our Heroes" Relay Walk, held on Sunday 28th May at Parramatta Park. Your continued support helped make the day a wonderful and an enjoyable one!
The day was a huge success with hundreds of walkers taking in the beautiful scenery of Parramatta Park, to honour the 42 Australian soldiers killed in Afghanistan and to raise awareness and much needed funds for Homes for Heroes.
Through registrations, donations and sponsorships we were able to push the total money raised for Homes for Heroes to over $1.1 million dollars in two year's!
Awareness is the key to help spread the message that our young veterans need support from the community and we achieved this by having multiple newspaper articles published, channel 7 news featuring the walk on Sunday evening and the number of people, families and teams participating in the walk showed that we care.
Thank you also, to tic technologies, Gold Crest Security, Global Coffee Solutions and Etched Communications for your fantastic contributions to make the event a success!
I think you will all agree with me that the Australian Army Band Sydney and the amazing voices from the Talent Development Project kept everyone entertained and singing along while the Lions Club Parramatta fed all our walkers and volunteers on the day!
Congratulations to Clare Korent from team ‘Kingsgrove RSL’ who won the trip to Fiji thanks to Total Travel Management and the other winner was Stephanie Fearn from the ‘Cowgirls & Ninjas’ team who won a signed West Tigers jersey plus a signed Giants cap and Guernsey.
From the RSL & Services Clubs Association, Veterans Benevolent Fund and Homes for Heroes, thank you again for your support and we hope to see you again next year!
Together we can make a difference to these veterans lives!
