RSL & Services Clubs Association

National RSL & Services Clubs Conference 2017

The 2017 National RSL Clubs Conference will be held on the Gold Coast at the Marriott Resort Surfers Paradise. The dates are 7th - 9th May 2017.

As a collective of RSL Licensed Clubs & RSL Licensed Sub Branches across the state jurisdictions of Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland we all share common themes, goals and challenges as contemporary RSL hospitality venues. At this year’s conference delegates we will come together to hear from business leaders and industry experts in an effort to gain that competitive edge in an ever changing hospitality market place.

Operating complex and diverse commercial RSL Licensed Club operations in the current day is challenging for all Boards, Management and Staff. But we are also faced with the ongoing challenge of continuing to provide support and assistance to our ADF veteran community under the banner of the RSL. Effectively RSL Clubs are a unique entity as we continue to work through both the challenges of ‘Who We Are’ and ‘What We Do’.

Hopefully the 2017 National RSL & Services Clubs Conference will provide some valuable insights and ideas for us all to take away and make us better equipped on both counts.

There will be major Address from the Federal Minister for Veterans Affairs, Hon Dan Tehan MP, will provide the delegates with an insight into his current portfolio as the Federal Minister for Veterans Affairs in the changing landscape of caring for our veterans of all ages and conflicts. As our WW1 diggers depart the scene RSL Clubs will continue to face the day to day challenges of caring for and supporting our veterans from more recent contemporary conflicts.

Don't miss an important presentation on the '75th Anniversary of Kokoda' by Charlie Lynn who is well known to many of our RSL Clubs and their members given his 21 years of service in the Australian Army. Over the past 25 years Charlie has led 83 treks across the Kokoda Trail in Papua New Guinea, or a total of 11,629km’s.

Charlie was elected to the NSW Parliament in 1995 and retired after the last state election after 20 years of service in the Legislative Council. Charlie has been heavily involved with the NSW RSL & Services Clubs Association through the sponsorship of the Kokoda Youth Leadership Challenge which has seen 350 young Australians go through the program over the past decade.

With this year marking the 75th Anniversary of the Kokoda campaign Charlie would like to share his thoughts on some new initiatives to protect the trail from mining and forestry threats.

Experience pure bliss at the Marriott Resort Surfers Paradise, which is a wonderful venue, right across from the beautiful beaches of Surfers Paradise!
